My beloved PC has gone and died on me- she's in the repair shop at the moment, hoping it's not going to cost hundreds of pounds to fix. But yup, that's why there hasn't be any new art from me in quite a few weeks now. Hopefully I'll have her back in the next few days and can resume painting soon

So I commissioned my first ever piece of art last week. I chose the very talented kiikii-sempai, who's work is absolutely beautiful! I especially love her portraits, and so couldn't resist getting a sketch portrait of Tarin done. You guys should totally go see her stuff- it's amazing. I can't wait to commission her again in the future if she's willing!

The main point of this journal is to write a review of a fantastic ebook I've just finished reading. It's called "It Began With Ashes" and is written by the very talented D-E-M-Emrys
It Began With Ashes - Prologue.
     "Are we being followed, father?"
     "No, Astartes, we are not being followed."
     "How can you be sure? You didn't even look!" Astartes whined. Struggling to turn in the saddle behind his father, Astartes craned his neck to look back through the night. The dirt track meandered this way and that, winding through the Emberfen Forest. The path was hard to make out amongst the muddy browns of the woodland, made all the more difficult by the thick canopy obscuring the glow of the stars and moon overhead.
     Nicolas shook his head, scratching idly at his flame-red moustache. "Don't let your eyes play tricks on you, son…there's nothing out there."

"It Began With Ashes" (IBWA) is the first book to the Wroge Elements series, and is a fast paced, action packed novel with a really solid story line. I love how there's a real sense of history that has been developed for this world, which gives it even more depth. There's a brilliant and varied cast of characters who feature throughout the book, with Ivebian being easily my favourite character. I look forward to seeing how they all develop, especially the younger characters. The book is a fantastic escape from the dullness of every day life and I can't wait for the next instalment. I thoroughly encourage others to check it out- Go on, support a fellow Deviant, you won't be disappointed, I promise!
